Question:

Static on CD player?

I Just installed a cd player/radio in my jeep and it worked fine. I went to drive it and went over a speed bump and now it gets static when the volume is at medium or high level. Checked the gound and all the connections, they are good, and all of the speakers are doing it so it is not the speakers. What could it possibly be?

  1. sometimes when a speaker wire, especially an RCA, crosses a wire from something like a window motor or the power wire from your battery etc it generates interference you can't really hear at lower levels. some wires might have been shifted, especially since it sounds like a custom job by... you

  2. well inono just double check ur speakers. or ur amps. or ur back harnes . since everythin in ur jeep work. but just double check it . maybe somthin is loose or touchin somthin that is metal.

  3. You could have just shaken something up inside the head unit itself.

If you were playing a CD then it probably just skipped the cd. Other than that it's probably just a wire jiggling a little bit.

Even if they are all in there secure it can still move around a little bit and cause some slight static.

If they touch each other during the bump they can get fussy too and thats a common sound you'll get.
