I was just wondering would I get the following stations on a Free To Air:

CTV Global TV CityTV CBC TV

NBC CBS ABC FOX CW TV

I know that Free To Air is legal because it accesses Open Signals.

Where as Bell has some closed signals and accessing these signals via FTA free of charge is illegal and they'll shut down your box if you try apparently.

But, according to someone on the net, your only allowed 90seconds to access Bell on a FTA.

  1. FTA sat recievers are not addressable and thereofore cannot be individually identified or shut down. do keep in mind that an FTA signal is entirely the broadcasters choice and this signal can be encrypted at any time. that is why most of the FTA content is foreign content that is meant to be FTA and the occasional broadcast feed. Pay satellite services like Bell will not have many FTA choices on their satellites. it is not illegal to recieve a signal FTA if the broadcaster chose not to encrypt but it is illegal to decode or decrypt an encoded signal.
