Question:

Statistics: Internationally adopted children from USA?

Hello,

I've been searching the web, but without luck, for statistics on international adoptions of US children by people in other countries. I've been able to find plenty of information regarding international adoptions of children from other countries, by US families/people. I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find the stats I'm looking for?

Thanks so much!

  1. You won't find anything about it!!!! I tried as well.....nothing. It's really sad. I don't think there will be anything to find because the stats are probably so low it would be a waste of money to find out anything!

  2. we abort kids by the millions here! I'm almost positive there are no US to foreign country adoptions. That's probably why you can't find any stats...

  3. There are US kids that are adopted by foreigners, mainly European.  Not sure where you could find the stats, however.  Maybe adoption.com or the US state department should have stats on emmigration by minors, or minors posessing dual citizenship.

  4. I wouldn't rely on stats. They are usually inaccurate especially with international adoptions. Some children are never even recorded because they're not checked on after they are brought to the US or it was done completely illegally.  I've read articles about African American kids being adopted by couples in 1 or 2 different countries but never saw what the stats were. Good luck.

Call Unicef and see what they have.

  5. Hi! Really interesting question!!

    Here's what I could find:

" US is now the fourth largest supplier of babies for adoption to Canada" -http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/1027/p11s0...

"While the exact number of U.S. children placed for adoption in other countries is not reliably reported, adoption experts put the number at 500 annually a decade ago." -http://www.adoptioninstitute.org/FactOve...

There was an MSNBC Periscope special about this subject but I can't find a working link. :(
