my boyfriend have been together for two years. i'm 16, he's 19. we first slept together when he was still 17. it was always consensual. i'm almost positive the age of consent where i live is 16. my mom would freak out if she knew anything had happened between us though. is there anyway it could be considered statutory rape? :/

  1. It depends on where you live and the local laws.  Age of consent varies from state to state.  In most states, it is illegal for adults (anyone over the age of 18) to engage in sexual activity with a person under an age specified by the state.    Minors are usually allowed to have s*x with each other, but some states put limits on the ages that children can engage in sexual activity (an age minimum or an age difference clause).

The best thing to do is consult your local laws via the internet.  Most U.S. states have websites listing all the laws on the books.  To find yours, go to www.state'sname.gov (example www.california.gov) and  find the link.  If you type in the key phrase "statutory rape" you should find the laws.

  2. It depends where you live. In Canada the age of consent is 14.

  3. check with the laws in your state via on-line or the library and it is strongly recommended to ask a lawyer. Sometimes they are in some free law clinic place.  You both are in the gray age area and in some states even up til the age of 18 statutory rape can still stick even if it is consensual.

The state could pick up the charges and charge your boyfriend on behalf of the people even if it was against your will to do so because a crime is then considered against the people.  You also could face charges as well.. once again depending on state and laws there.  By the dates you have given, it means that you were 13 when you started with him.  That's not good in the eyes of the law no matter how you put it because you are not old enough to sign a legal document.

Also, look up the statue of limitations.. because if it's years.. and your mom finds out.. she COULD file charges going back to the first year and that would really not be good for either of you two.

good luck.. you Could hold off til your 18.  Because it's not worth the time and the permenate mark on the record. Your worth the wait.

  4. It depends on where you live.

  5. if you were over 16 then its ok. The legal age were i live is 16 as well. I'm in australia, and if you are as well then its 16 everywhere except for one territory which i cant remember....anyway if you dont dob then nothing bad can happen can it?

  6. You're good.  If you give consent, there's no problem.  Even if your Mom tried to pursue anything against him, you would have to say he forced you.
