Question:

Stay Cat. Am I stuck with her?

I found a stray cat under my porch one day with an embedded collar. After some time I got her to trust me enough to pet her and cut the collar off to treat her neck. Now she is completely obsessed with me. I can't walk passed her without her reaching out and grabbing ahold of my pant legs when I leave or try to enter my home. She never leaves my porch and will attack any cat that enters the property, even my own. She is really aggressive with me petting her, rubs very hard against me with full force while actually drooling on me, she'll sometimes bite when she gets really into being petted. Feels like I have a stalker =) Anyways, I have a lot of cats already and a few ferrets I have to fend for. Am I stuck with her or would it be cruel to take her to the humane society in hopes that someone will adopt her?

She really is a beautiful cat. Orange tabby with extra toes on her two front feet, so I don't think she would have much trouble finding a home but so far the only human she will let near her is me, so a bit feral.

  1. you need to call the humane society/animal control and have them come get her. they will get her medical attention and get her adopted out. she needs some behavior training as well before she can be adopted out and they can provide that.

if you don't like that post an add in craigslist and find her a good home, someone with experience with high needs in cats....hope something works.

  2. You could contact a local cat rescue organization.  Wherever you are, there's bound to be one near by.  If you don't know of any, ask at the Petsmart, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus, etc.  Sounds as though she may have special needs, and they often can take more time to deal properly with them than a pound or Humane Society shelter can.

Thank you for caring about her and looking after her .

  3. Aww....I am almost tempted to say that I don't mind adopting her from you, but I recently adopted a stray male orange tabby and my daughter wants to adopt only a kitten to be our 3rd cat.  Have you contacted all your local No-Kill Shelters?  If they have a long wait list, then try posting her on Craig's List.  Or even try posting her in some of the bulletin boards of local churches.

  4. She just wants someone to love her. There is nothing wrong with her agressive affection. It just means she really enjoys it. Most likely, she has never had someone that really loves her. Keep her, or find a friend that needs a good, loyal pet. If you give her to the humane society and she isnt a kitten, shell most likely get put to sleep. Best of luck!

  5. It's totally up to you since she is now your responsibility. She sounds really cute! If you feel that your getting bothered with a clingy behavior or think that her actions are putting your other pets in jeopardy, then yes, you should take her to a shelter. If you don't feel comfortable with that idea, you could always try to find her a home by yourself by going around the neighborhood and asking or putting up flyers. I'm a big cat lover myself so I hope it all works out for you!

  6. there is nothing cruel about taking a cat to a humane society to find them a new home! It's much better than leaving her outside under your porch, she sounds like she really loves you, and maybe with time she can love someone else just as much as you. :o) Or find a friend/family member who wants a pet...also look into ADOPT at petsmart

  7. aw. she loves you because you helped her. haha. She sounds like a pretty weird cat though.  You have your hands full, there is nothing wrong with taking her to the humane society.  Maybe first you could ask around and see if anyone you know would like to take her.
