Stay Thirsty with his dazzling performance won the purse of $1 million in the Grade 1 Travers Stakes  
Trainer Todd A. Pletcher’s Stay Thirsty, under jockey J Castellano, gave a splendid hit and won the purse of $1 million. The colt performed amazingly against his nine contenders.
The three-year-old colt has previously won a purse of $500,000 under jockey J Castellano at the Grade 2 Jim Dandy held on the 30th
July, 2011.
On the 27th of August, 2011, the lucky stallion gave a hit in the Travers Stakes a Grade 1 race, held every year in the month of August.
The prestigious event was held at the famous Saratoga Race Track, covering the distance of 1 ¼ miles which makes 10 furlongs.
Previously the horses has to cover the distance of 1 ¾ miles then it was decreased to 1 ½ miles and gradually the distance became 1 ¼ miles since 1903.
The three-year-old colt under jockey J Castellano started his chase with a superb run, throughout the race the colt stayed at the leading position, competing against tough competitors this out class team gave a hit.
Son of Bernardini out of Marozia, Stay Thirsty won the purse by reaching the wire in 2 minutes and 3.03 seconds.
Rattlesnake Bridge a three-year-old colt under jockey J Velazquez tried really hard to defeat his competitor Stay Thirsty but he could not ran fast to lead the race and finish first.
Trainer K Mc Laughlin’s young stallion previously on the 9th of August 2011 was the winner of the Long Branch under jockey E Castro, but this time he was not lucky enough.
The stallion who finished third in the race was trainer Anthony W. Dutrow’s J W Blue, the three-year-old colt under jockey C. Velazquez raced very well but he was not able to cover the distance before his contenders.
Trainer K Breen’s three-year-old gelding Ruler On Ice under jockey J Valdivia finished fourth, followed by Malibu Glow who under R Maragh finished fifth in the race.
Trainer R Baker’s Moonshine Mullin under jockey R Baker the three-year-old colt stood at the sixth position.
The winner of Victoria Park on 12th June, 2011, was followed by trainer C. Browns Bowman’s Causeway. The three-year-old colt finished seventh in the event.
The eighth and the ninth position was held by trainer D. Roman’s Shakleford who was the winner of the Grade 1 Preakness on the 21st May, 2011, and trainer W. Mott’s Raison d’Etat, respectively.
The last one to reach the wire was trainer B. Baffert’s Coil, the three-year-old colt under jockey M Garcia remained unlucky throughout the race and finished tenth.
