Stay alive at all costs through adversity?

Sometimes I watch how people live in abject poverty. People, who become unemployed and can't find a job whatever they do only the most demeaning ones perhaps. Those who lose their homes and become "zombies" of the street. The old with Alzheimer and other serious disease literally rotting away in loneliness and I wonder...

I wonder how far I would say that "Ok, bring it on! Let's face it". Till which point is it worth fighting and where does "Maybe I should just let it go in peace and dignity" start.

Anyway, where is this point for you? What would you do if you were to become homeless, blind, Alzheimer's stricken etc. Would you face it? Why? Why not?

  1. I would only give up if I could no longer function at all - like with Alzheimers in many cases or if I couldn't and would never be able to get out of bed.  I'd give it a few months, maybe, but not if I were in pain.  If there is the possibility of it getting better, then I'd stick with it.  If not, then I would live as much as I could until I was sick of it.

  2. If it's something that i can change I would constantly try. For instance being homeless, I would continue to keep looking for a job. If i was blind, i would learn to read brail. If I had Alzheimer's disease then i would be be thankful for everyday that i remember something and would give extra love to those around me! There is always hope through Jesus Christ which gives me hope to never give up!

  3. Purpose is what you should think about. What purpose is it that is worth everything?

Purpose is a need that when fulfilled, you WILL say "enough, for i have done the deed."

A strong minded person would never give up, but in some cases, if the person has lost his mind, it is not him anymore to be strong.
