Stay at home Mother, seeking job...can she collect unemployment benefits?

My Wife has been a stay at home Mother for 2 1/2 years and is currently seeking a job...but so far, no luck! I am wondering if she can collect unemployment benefits during the time it takes her to find a job?

It was her choice to be a stay at home mom......now you want use to pay for that.......no way.............

Unemployment is for people who were laid off, not people who decided to stay home.    As it is paid by the employers for the last 8 quarters (2 years) there is no one to pay her benefits, as she was not working.

Unemployment is paid for by your old employer so with her being out of work for so long she will not be able to claim any.

No, she would not be eligible as she has not been working and paid in to the plan for 2 1/2 years.
