  1. Over the summer we had no set wake up time.  But now my 5 year old is in kindergarten so I get him up at 7am and usually the noise we make gets my 21 month old up a few minutes later.  We do breakfast right away for my 5 year old, but usually my 1 year old either has a banana in the stroller on the walk to school or breakfast when we get back home about 8:20 and then we play for a couple of hours.  At 10:45 we walk back to the school to pick up my 5 year old.  Usually my 1 year old prefers to walk rather than ride so the walk back home takes about 30 minutes rather than 10.  Then we all have lunch about 11:30-12:00.  My one year old is usually ready for a nap by about 1, sometimes not until 2 and she sleeps for a couple of hours.  During that time I hang out with my 5 year old and work on laundry and dishes and other chores.  At 3-4 when my one year old wakes up the kids have a snack.  After that the day varies.  Some days we hit the park for playdates or go run errands and hit the grocery store.  Dinner is usually about 5:30.  Pajama and wind down time start at 7 with kids tucked into bed by about 7:30.  Then I do a quick walk through cleaning before settling down to do various things before I go to bed.

  2. I am a SAHM of a 17 month old and I must say that routines are our best friend...yea they say not to do it when they are younger, and I really didn't but now she is getting bigger and needs to know when it is nap time and bed time and time to play.

we wake up at about 6am if daddy has to work that morning and if not we wake up at about 8. If she wakes up at 6 we eat breakfast and watch a little NOGGIN while she wakes up. I give her a sippy of milk with her breakfast. After about 30 mins of one of the shows, like Blues Clues we turn off the T.V and we usually stick to the house and play with her toys and just have fun. I usually give her her nap about 4 hours after she gets up and then she sleeps for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours and then eats lunch when she gets up and the rest of the day we either stay in, go to the park, visit Nana's house or friends and then we come back home for some down time with daddy. She's a BIG daddy's girl lol. Then we start with the bedtime routine, she eats dinner and then takes a bath and then we read 2 or 3 books to her and at 8 pm its bed time and either daddy or I rock her to sleep. (Depending on if daddy is working late that night) I usually wait and do the dishes and clean up the house after she's in bed because really there is no point when she is running around taking them out anyway lol. Good luck :)

  3. My daughter is 13 and 1/2 months old.  I am also 14 weeks pregnant.  We get up around 7:30 to 8:00. She has about 8 oz milk and some cuddle time with Mommy.  Then she plays in play pen while I clean house.  Usually cleaning routine: make bed, start a load of laundry, straighten bathroom, unload dishwasher, sweep house (all tile floor).  Usually then time for baby breakfast about 9:30.  After breakfast we have playtime on the floor, she walks all around our living room/dining room area scattering her toys and books.  11:45 quiet time with a snack.  12:00 Nap time, usually 2 hours.  During her nap I usually fold laundry and do something from my weekly or monthly chore list.  When she wakes up it is lunch time.  After lunch more playtime.  Around 5:00 pm I try to put her back in the playpen with a small snack so I can start dinner.  She eats dinner around 7:30 pm.  Then it is husband play time with her while I do after dinner kitchen cleaning and loading dishwasher.  8:30 is bath time, which I do, then husband dresses her in PJ's and she has cuddle time with daddy.  Around 9:00 she has another 8 oz of milk and then goes to bed.  Sleep until 7:30 to 8:00 am.  Start all over again.

  4. My girl just turned one last week.  She wakes between 8 and 9 and I give her a sippy of whole milk and a little bowl of cheerios to munch on until breakfast between 9 and 10 (depending on when she woke).  For breakfast some examples of what she has is:  A piece of toast with organic (or sugar free) apple butter, half a banana, a piece of toast dipped in organic yogurt, eggs, etc.  She usually goes down for a nap around 10/10:30 and will sleep for an hour or so. During that time I will start laundry, clean house, get myself around for the day, whatever I need to do.  She will wake and play for a bit and lunch is around 12.  Lunch usually consists of half a sandwich of some sort, a steamed veggie, and sliced fruit for desert, again with a sippy of whole milk.  After lunch is when I run errands, grocery shop, plan dinner, or some days we just stay in and play.  She will have a snack between lunch and dinner (goldfish crackers, raisins, a bowl of fruit, whatever..and a sippy of iced water) and she goes down for another nap between 2 and 3.  I get started on dinner while she is napping. She wakes and we eat (Dad works the majority of the day so 5 out of 7 days its just us).  After dinner I clean up the best I can and we play, swing outside, play in the yard/sandbox, go for walks etc. She gets a bath around 7, pj's and we read 2-3 stories and she is always in bed and asleep by 8 straight through until morning.  I use that time for me to clean, finish laundry, or relax.  It varies from day to day, but thats the gist.

  5. we are not super tight with a routine. in two weeks, we will be going to kindermusik class every monday, so that will be our one hard core scheduled thing. but we move between one and two naps (she is 15 months), and i don't force her to eat at "meal time." we are grazers...we eat whenever we are hungry. we do get out of the house at least once a day, and usually twice. she plays in the house pretty well independently, so i do get some things done. when we go out, we walk around downtown, go to the gagillion parks in our city, go to the children's museum..the library...shopping (she loves whole foods. funny). and some days we stay home most of the day and play and read and play music and dance watch an episode or two of wonder pets. during her nap, i exercise (we have an exercise bike), but i do most of the housework around her while she is awake. while i am not very regimented in terms of routine, i am super careful to make sure our days are balanced: if for some reason i have a day that involves a lot of "grown up" tasks:  shopping, chores, etc., then the next day is SUPER ruby centered (museum, her favorite coffee shop -- yes, she has a favorite coffee shop). and i make sure we read and hear music every day. that's as far as our routine goes.

  6. Emma is ten months old and she is in a routine (which she has made herself)

    7:30 - Up/changed/cuddled/play

    8:00 - Breakfast

    8:30 - 9:30 She plays and I may clean up a bit

9:30 - 11:00 She naps and I clean or do laundry, get on the internet, sometimes watch TV.

11:00 - 12:00 She plays.  We may go outside.  We may go somewhere??

    12:00 - lunch

12:30 - 1:30 - Play and etc.  I might do something and she will probably help (ie put laundry in) b/c she likes to do what I do.

    1:30 - 3:00 - Nap and I might prep supper, relax, etc.

3:00 - Up and we usually go outside at this time and play then she has a snack.

4:00 - She plays with dad and I REST

    5:00 - Supper

Maybe a bath?  Maybe go someplace?

7:00 Bed and this is usually when I really start doing things like lately canning veggies or whatever I need/want to do.

  7. As unpredictable as possible. Sometimes we spend the day scraping old wallpaper off the bathroom walls; sometimes we go to the beach; sometimes we spend the entire day wandering around downtown; sometimes we see friends, etcetera, etcetera.

Meal times are whenever one or both of us is hungry so it's mostly little snacks.

We try and be up for breakfast with Daddy, and usually baby hangs out and plays the piano (or goes for ice cream) with Daddy in the evening while Mummy has a relax in the tub, but apart from that the only other consistent thing is a library storytime each week.

The usual nursings and diaper changes and stuff are of course sprinkled throughout the day. Some days there's one nap, some days two naps.

  8. My daughter will be one year old this month, and here is our routine (though mine is a bit different, because I also have a 10 year old and an 8 year old who are homeschooled).

I wake up around 5-5:30 to send my husband off to work.  He leaves around 6:15 most days.  The baby usually wakes up around 5-5:30 as well, but after a change and some milk she usually goes back to sleep.

Depending on our schedule for the day and how I am feeling, and whether the baby went back to sleep, I either shower or go back to bed myself until 7.

At 7, I wake the older children up.  They get dressed, make their beds and we tend to our animals.  The baby is usually up for breakfast, and then at 8:30 we begin our school lessons.  Part of that is done together, and I give them individual lessons while the other child is doing independent work.  The baby sits in her high chair with us or plays on the floor where I can supervise her while we do our lessons.

Our school lessons are usually completed by lunch time, and I have managed to do some of the simpler tasks during the morning.  After lunch, the children do their chores and I complete housework, and then they have free time.  The older children usually play outside, and I play with the baby-singing, reading, etc.

When Dad gets home, he usually keeps the chldren entertained while I finish up supper, and we eat together.  After supper, we usually hang out together for a while and then there are baths, etc.

All of the children go to bed around 9 now-that is just what works best for us.  Of course, the baby also takes a nap or two during the day.

This is assuming that the day is not one that has Scouts, baseball, piano lessons, visiting the library, or the myriad of other activities we participate in.

What helps me with housework is having the stuff that is done daily-sweeping and vaccuming, dishes and laundry, general wipe down and pick up, and the things that are done weekly-I focus on one room each day and deep clean that-for instance, on Wednesdays I do the master bed/bath where I clean the windows, toilet, wash the bed linens, etc.

Also, I give times but we operate on a routine rather than a schedule so if we do not finish our school lessons until 1 instead of 12, it is no big deal.  What is most important is that what needs to get done, is done.
