Stay at home wives and moms

Question

JUST curious. has ne one done both? which do u prefer and why?

I worked until just this past June..  Now I stay at home with my girls.  I feel that staying at home is better for the kids but I did like having a job. It takes a lot to be able to stay at home if you have to earn extra income (I watch two extra children during the week in my home).  If I didn't have to earn extra income and it was just my girls and we had money to go out and do things I would say it is an absolute blast and blessing to be able to stay at home!  Taking care of two extra kids makes me tired and for a long week!

I worked full time with my first child, part time with my second and with my third I stay at home with her. When my youngest gets to school age I will go back to work, but for now I love staying at home wth her and I've enjoyed being there during all my daughters developement stages (walking etc) Where as with my other two I feel like I missed out a bit, and obviously I can never get that back! If possible I would recommend being a stay at home mum, although I know that this isn't always possible.

I hear women on Dr.Laura's radio show who have done this and they are glad.

When you take your infant to the hired help to raise 8 hrs a day, you miss their first words, their first steps etc.

Most people do not know this, but the Columbine shooters back in the 90's came from  upper middle calss homes.

Their parents were bvusy working and could not be there for them because they had to have "nice things".

I know a man right now who is divorced, his daughter is 15 and pregnant by a 20-22 yrd old guy, his son is 17 and in trouble fro underage drinking and causing trouble.He COULD make it on one paycheck but chooses to work 2 jobs.He complains that he has given his kids "EVERYTHING".

When you are not there, then who is influencing your kids/

With pedophilia running wild I would be afraid to drop my kid off and the daycare centers are expensive and do not usually have enough personnel to watch each kid they way they need to.

It is good to have a college degree in case something should happen to your hubby, HOWEVER,just get a good life insurance policy and that will help also.

It is sad but now days most moms have to work. I have worked since I was 16 and did have some regrets. I am now raising my grandson and have been home with him but due to financial reasons will have to return to work. You always seem to wonder if you are doing the right thing by working like are you missing out on areas of the child,s life ect. If I had the opportunity to stay at home I would. Good luck to you .

i have two young kids and i have worked and stayed at home and my kids prefer it alot more when i am home with them rather then working if you can get by on the money your partner bring then stay at home kids need the love and attention off there parents rather then money in the bank that means nothing to them love does

i prefer getting a degree n working . home is said to be'home sweet home' but yet there is no such things. just imagine that you hafve married n stay home you will be bored n start being suspicious if ur husband comes late to home as you have no other things to do. then there wil be fights. so i prefer working n living a happy life.

I stayed home full time with my little for 2 years and missed the common chit-chat of an office so now I work part time & go to school. My family always comes first but I have social needs. I would love to be able to not work @ all but the extra money helps our family and her. It also gives her as a 4 year old time to socialize with other children and be a little more independent. My mom worked full-time after the divorce and I hated not having her around but I understand why she needed to do it. I just hope I never have to work full-time till my daughter is in jr high or high school. Although kids seem to need their moms more the older they get... Good Luck with your choices.

i think it is important to do both, i stay home during the day with my child and have a pt eve job, not only does it allow for extra income but it gives my son and husband some bonding time  together as well and it wrks for us so don't be afraid to try out schedules that wrk for your family

i am a stay at home very proud mum of 5 and wife to my husband for 22yrs so yeh av done both and very proud of what i have achieved my 20year daughter now has a baby boy and my 17/18yr old is a college student in his 2nd yr of ITpractioner,doing very well he s very popular with college students and his hobby is  skateboarding so is popular with skateboarders too,my 13yr old is a wizz on the computers too and excedes at school at maths english,science all lessons really apart from p e,and my 2 little girls are lovely characters in there own right i know that i am doing a good job with y kids and believe if i had been out having a career they would nt be where they were or are today

I am a stay at home mother. I have 3 boys that I tend to all day long. I would not change it for the world. I think it is the best thing for my family. I am always here for my kids and they love that too. I have never missed their first words or first steps and I am very happy about that. I couldn't imagine a babysitter telling me that my child took their first step or so on. Stay at home moms rock! If you are able to do it than do it.

MY FIRST HUSBAND AND I BOTH WORKED,WHEN OUR GIRLS WERE FIRST BORN TILL THEY WERE 5 N 6,THEN WE DIVORCED,AND I WORKED TWO JOBS TO MAKE IT MY EX WAS A REAL LOOSER HE NEVER  PAID ME A CENT,,ANY WAY AFTER 6YEARS OF THIS I MET MY NOW HUBBY WHOM I DONT HAVE TO  WORK N MY DAUGHTERS LOVED ME BEING HOME,,N I LOVED STAYING AT HOME ,,PEACE
