Question:

Staying Healthy while being a Baker!!?

Good Morning Y!Answers!

I am an aspiring baker and I often make a lot of delicious goods. I have realized, though, baking is very unhealthy. Making cookies and cakes are pretty much comprised of lots of butter, sugar(s) and flour, salt and baking soda! (then all the other sweet extras!)

My question is… what can I eat or drink to off set the horrible goodness for health reasons? Does drinking a lot of milk help digest fat better? What about excess water? I know about exercise, but is there more that can be done?

I love baking and I still want to open a bakery, but I don’t want to become unhealthy!

Thank you very much for all of your help!

  1. This may be a bit on the obvious side, but here goes:

Don't eat everything you bake.  Baking isn't unhealthy- overeating is!

That said, I don't know that I could resist sampling, either.  Good luck!

  2. I would try not and limit yourself to never eating it, but just try to cut back. I mean your a baker, you have to sample your goodies and sweets to make sure their good right? lol. That being said, I would try to incorporate healthy eating outside of your work. As far as food goes I try to eat whole wheat, lean proteins, non-fat dairy, and foods without a lot of saturated fat. Drinking lots and lots of water is the beauty secret every woman should indulge in, I try to drink at least 64 oz. a day. Also, drinking milk does help your digestive system. I eat a ton of sweets, but I find that minimal exercise, sometimes none ( Gasp! ) and trying to keep a healthy eating pattern, aside from all the sugar, helps a lot :) Good luck girly!
