Staying cool in summer inside?

my parents won't turn on the ac and its 88 degrees in r house. my brother & sister complain but she says "no it wastes electricity and it's killing r planet" she is stupid it feels like we r all going 2 die. her sister told her she does not use hers and now she doen't use r's. plz help me, what can i do to stay cool.

Get ice and put it in your paints take a cold  shower get a fan, or just go to a store were they have ac cool down there 4 a little bit

Open the windows run a fan or your ceiling fan it you have one.  Thats about it.  Sorry.  My husbands parnts are the same way.

I hope you have a basement.

If not, open your windows and run a window fan at night, then close them during the day and keep it dark.  It'll stay cooler for at least awhile.  Keep fans circulating air on you.

Maybe try a swamp cooler if you're in the right climate for them.  Eat some ice or pop-sicles and keep well hydrated.

lay on your bed with as little clothes as possible grab a bath towel wet it until its soaked and lay the towel all over you have two one on top and bottom or go the the mall or shopping centre with air con

I feel for you. It's not so great when parents impose rules that are so hard (and especially when you probably realise they might be right :)) You could try any/all of the following -- I've tried them all and they work!

# If you have a box fan you can create a little homemade air conditioning. Set the tub of ice water behind the fan and wait. The cool air will be pulled away from the tub and cool down your home.

# Spray your curtains with water. When air filters through wet curtains, it will cool down.

# Make paper fans!

Well, it does waste electricity. About the killing our planet thing, it may not be killing the planet, but it certainly helps kill you. A/C emits toxic compounds into the air. Ever notice that weird smell in a small room when an A/C is going? That's not natural air.

It's hard for parents these days. Prices seem to be going upwards for electricity and gas. So it's very logical that she wouldn't want to run the A/C. Good for her. She's helping the planet AND you! :)

It's not so bad to not have the A/C on. I have an upstairs room and it can get up to 110 in here and I don't have an A/C. Sure I sweat alot, but it's good for you! I think of it as a free sauna.

Don't get used to the deception of pleasure. Modern society is too used to false comforts. For thousands of years people lived without air conditioning, you can too! 88 degrees isn't hot at all. Try living in india or death valley where you would get baked alive by being outside.

when she is gone go and turn the a/c on . keep on her about buying a swimming pool so you all can stay comfortable at least in the summer time

    AC is not a preferable one to stay cool in summer. It may keep the room cooler but it emmits max amount of heat.It is considered as one of the reson for global warming.Try to understand our world's situation.Don't blame your mother.She is doing everything for your goodness.
