  1. The best way to gain only healthy weight is to eat right.

Exercise during pregnancy should not be for the purpose of losing weight, but for keeping the body in shape and for toning the muscles used in giving birth.

The best type of exercise is anything that doesn't make you tired. If you get tired, STOP IMMEDIATELY!! Pregnancy is not the time to push and exert yourself. Really any exercise is okay, as long as it's not too draining and jarring. Avoid any jumping or sudden movements, and avoid lying on your back. Many pregnant women like swimming, since the water holds all that extra weight, and yoga, which also helps control breathing.

Pelvic tilts are good also, and kegels. They exercise the muscles used in giving birth.

  2. anything that you did on a regular basic prior to getting pregnant is okay. Swimming is safe and good exercise, but try to avoid lakes or oceans because of the bacteria in them. My dr said it was okay to jump on the trampoline but I am too scared to try. Yoga, walking, aerobics are all safe. Always check with your dr first though because every pregnancy is different. As long as you don't go overboard with what you eat then you should be fine in the weight department. Your dr can let you know what is a healthy amount of weight for you to gain during pregnancy. I am 38 weeks and have only gained 17 1/2 lbs and I hate to admit it but I do not exercise like I should. Just relax don't stress about it too much. Best of luck and congrats!

Also, you shouldn't gain a bunch of weight when your pregnant, unless you are over eating.   Women often use being pregnant as an excuse to pig out, and you definitely dont need to! You don't need that much more food than you do while not pregnant. Just make sure you are eating healthy and nutritious foods. Ben & Jerry's isn't nutritious ;)
