Question:

Staying in Milan. Do I take a day trip to Turin or Bern?

I'm off to Milan for 4 nights at the end of the month and I want to go to Turin in Italy or Bern in Switzerland by train with my friend for a day but I'm not sure where has more to offer.

The prices for the train are practically the same at around £30/$60 per person for a return but Bern is 3 hours and Turin is 2 hours to get to - however the 3 hours to Bern should fly by as I think we go through the Alps. Am I correct?

My question is, where would I find more on offer considering we're both 18 and only there for a day with limited money?

  1. Personally, I like Bern better. Though, I don't think I've been to Turin, I think Switzerland is all around just, nicer. Not that Italy. But if you're staying in Milan for 4 days, then you might want to escape the language. If you go to Bern, I'd take a side trip to Lucern. I think it's kind of close, but you won't be disappointed with it.
