Staying organized at School?

How did using different binders for each of your classes affect you? Did it make it easier or harder to go to class because you would have to find the correct binder then find the right book to go with that class?

Or if you didnt use different binders what system did you use to stay organized? And did it help?

**Also**

Could i use a Five Star Dots 6 Pocket Expanding File for all my folders and papers that way i dnt have to carry around all 3 binders and all the 3 books at the same time so that i wont be late?

  1. I have used Expanding File Folders for 3 years (throughout middle school) I found out that my work has been easily misplaced in these. Depending on your school, teachers may want materials ONLY for your class.

Recently, I went to Staples and bought 2 1" binders for my two major freshmen subjects: Biology and Global. Math and English is not really a bother to me. You have to study the facts for biology and global. I also bought an AVERY 5 tab dividers for my binder. Its transparent for $4 something. I have tabs for: notes, homeworks, additional info,  tests, and extras. I think you should reside at least 20 minutes every weekend in going over your binder (if you use my strategy) so it can all stay in memory for regents. You should keep an extra copy of your homework to put in your binder. Since you might get a bulk load, only keep the ones that is question and answer and essay questions. If you feel that the homework will be useful, keep it! Another thing that I do is that for every topic we are going to be working on, I will research some additional information on the internet. A textbook does not have everything and neither does internet. I try to make myself more well-rounded. Keep your tests and quizzes because they might be recurring questions on your finals or midterms. Its better to be safe than sorry, right.

A good thing to stay organized is using a color system. I am taking 7 classes and I have a color for each of them:

Theology 9 = yellow (god made light which is yellow)

Algebra 9H = red (red reminds me of how painful algebra is)

English 9H = orange (reminds me of a pencil that is orange)

REG Biology = green (reminds me of green plants)

Global = blue (most globes have lots of blue_

TECH = pink (because the TECH teacher is g*y)

PHYS ED = purple (i wear my lucky purple barrette in phys ed)

Now, get highlighters in each of these colors (or more), as well as pens, and colored pencils. On my index cards, homework, or anything paper, I color lightly in the top right hand corner the class color. So if I have REG Biology homework, I would lightly color the top right hand corner green. That way, if my stuff ever get lost, I know what it is immediately. This is a good for your expandable file folder so it would not get lost.

  2. I had binders for each class, which of course helped because I was always organized. Also, I always had my own hole puncher so that everything could be filed right away.. there's no other adequate way to have your stuff...

I don't use folders because binders are easier and your stuff is easier to access, but I had to carry six binders and 2-4 books around.

    You'll live. :)

  3. You have problems..........

  4. I had a different binder for each of my classes. I color coded each one along with my notebooks, book covers, and other materials. This made it easy to find the materials i needed for my classes. The folder thing could work, but the one i had once broke very easily.

  5. well, I personally have:

    1 binder

    2 pencil boxes(to keep organized)

    2 notebooks

Plus 2-3 books, depending on which class i was going to. it was okay. sometimes i dropped sumthing and then it took me forever to get myself together again.

The Five Star Dots 6 Pocket Expanding File sounds perfect. I love expanding files, they keep you so organized!

  6. i would suggest haveing 2 binders, 3 classes in each binder, and having a folder and dividers for each subject, so you can just flip to the subject and store papers, write notes! =)
