Steak and Beef....are they the same thing.?

If you ask for a beef recipe and I give you a steak one, are they still the same, or are they different.

Give me an example of each please?

No, not always. You can get beef steak, but you can also have Veal Steak, Lamb Steak, Venison Steak, Pork Steak etc.

Beef is always from a cow.

Steak is the cut and therefore can be from many animals.

Steak is a specific cut of the cow.

You could order a T-Bone steak which is a steak and also beef.

You could have a chuck roast.  That is beef, but not a steak cut.

Myself, a steak is beef, but there are lamb steaks and chicken steaks. I would advise that you be specific.

Steak is a particular cut. It can be beef or can be other kinds of meat, such as deer.

Beef means it came from a cow.

If someone asks for a beef recipe and you give a steak recipe, you gave them something they can use but you could have given them a recipe using ground beef (hamburger, meat loaf) or using the cow's intestines (menudo) or other parts.

As long as it is a recipe for beef steak. There is elk steak, deer steak, ham steak etc....

Both STEAK AND BEEF COME FROM THE BOVINE, but steak is a specific group of cuts that is separated because of its value. Steak can be T-bone Steal, Rump Steak or Fillet Steak whereas Beef mince, Cubed Beef, Stewing beef is usually from the cheaper cuts from the animal.

Steak is beef.

It depends on what cut the recipe calls for.

For instance if someone asks for a "beef" stew recipe,

the cut would not be steak but Chuck( from the neck of the beef).

So it's all beef but it depends on what your making.
