    1 1/2 c. onion

    1/3 c. vegetable oil

    1/3 c. flour

    1/8 tsp. allspice

    3 1/4 c. boiling water

    1 c. raw potatoes, diced

    1 recipe pie crust

Fry onions in hot vegetable oil until yellow. Remove onions. Roll meat in mixture of flour and seasonings and spices. Brown in hot vegetable oil. Add boiling water. Cover and let simmer until meat is tender (about 1 hour). Add potato and cook 10 minutes longer.

Pour meat into a 9 inch pie plate or 10 x 6 x 2 inch pan. Lay cooled onions on top of meat. Fit pie crust over top and seal edges. Bake at 450 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

hope this helped and good luck =)

    STEAK AND ONION PIE

    Pastry for 1 pie crust

    1 cup sliced onion

    2 Tbsp shortening

    1 lb round steak, cubed

    1/4 cup flour

    1-1/2 (that's 1.5) tsp salt

    dash ginger

    dash allspice

    2-1/2 (2.5) cups boiling beef broth/bouillion

    2 cups diced raw potatoes

Cook onions in shortening until lightly browned; remove and set aside.

Mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, ginger and allspice; dredge meat in the mixture, then brown in shortening.

Add beef broth, cover and simmer 1 hour, or until meat is tender.

Add potatoes and cook 10 min.

Pour mixture into 8" greased casserole. Arrange onions on top. Cover with pastry. Crimp edges and slit top for steam.

Bake at 400' for 30-40 min.

  4. Steak 'N' Onion Pie -- 5 STAR RECIPE, also you can get a pre-made crust too.

"When I was growing up, Mom let us pick our birthday meals. This one was a frequent choice. I made sure to copy down the recipe to use in my own home years later."

    INGREDIENTS

    2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    1 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon pepper

    1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 pound boneless beef top round steak, cut into 1/2 inch cubes

1 small onion, sliced and separated into rings

    2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    1 1/2 cups beef broth

    1 cup cubed cooked potatoes

    CRUST:

    1 cup all-purpose flour

    1/4 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons cold butter or margarine

    3 tablespoons shortening

    2 tablespoons cold water

    1 teaspoon milk

    DIRECTIONS

In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the flour, salt, pepper and paprika; mix well. Add beef, a few pieces at a time, and shake to coat.

In a skillet, cook beef and onion in oil until beef is browned and onion is tender. Add broth to the skillet. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 45 minutes. Uncover; stir in the potatoes. Cook until heated through. Spoon meat mixture into a greased 7-in. pie plate or 2-cup baking dish.

For the crust, in a bowl, combine the flour and salt; cut in the butter and shortening until crumbly. Gradually add water, tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball. Roll out pastry to fit baking dish. Use a small cookie cutter to cut a shape in the center of the pastry; place pastry over meat mixture. Trim pastry to 1/2 in. beyond edge of dish; flute edges. Brush with milk. Bake at 375 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until pastry is lightly browned on edges.

  5. I just made my first steak and onion pie for a party and it was a hit.  I used beef tenderloin, and chopped white onions.  The crust was a store bought pie shell in the box, like Pillsbury makes.  First I marinated the tenderloin overnight in teriyaki sauce, course chopped fresh garlic, black pepper and alot of dried parsley.

Preheat oven to 450 degrees and lay out tenderloin on a broiler pan.

Bake for 50 to 55 minutes for a 5 pound tenderloin.

Remove and cool.  Take meat and cube to 1 inch cubes and put in pie shells.

Saute chopped onions in butter and mix thru out meat.

Use the juices from the meat and put in saucepan.

Bring to a boil and add some cornstarch and cold water mixture to thicken.  You can use a gravy mix also instead of cornstarch.  Pour over meat and onions.

Place other pie crust over top and pinch sides like a pie.

Bake for 20-30 minutes until crust is golden brown.

I used puff pastry as the top on my steak and onion pie which was very good.

You can add boiled potatoes  and boiled carrots to this if you like and make something like a pot pie.
