Ok so I am going to start a min lawn mowing business in my neighborhood and I was wondering is it ok to steal another person's lawn mowing name?I was searching for lawn mowing names that I could put on my flyers and I found Four Seasons lawn care and I really like it.It's someone else's name though. Is it okay for me to take the name?It was on Google so they could live anywhere.I was also thinking of Green Oasis Lawn Care.Oh and how much to charge for mowing lawns?$5-$10 for small lawns and $15-$20 for large lawns?Any other good names?

Please answer!Thanks in advance!

  1. You can not legally register a business with the same name unless you spell it differently but if your business is the same it can still be rejected, depending on which state they are in, you'd have to do a search in your state prior to registering, do it though - much much much easier (and cheaper) than being sued!

    Green Oasis is nice.

$5-10 and $15 - 20  seems really quite cheap to me, I paid $50 to have my front lawn done (mowed and edged), so go hunting and do the research, find out what the competitors charge, you have to figure in things like the cost of advertising, fuel, vehicle upkeep, mower and equipment upkeep and at the end of the day (or week) you need to have made enough cash to give you a wage you can comfortably live on.  to earn $500 pw you would have to mow at the least 25 large lawns at $20 ea and thats 5 each day, figure in travel time and set up time and I think you will see that you may need to charge more.

Getting clients at a cheap price could mean that 6 months from now if you suddenly realise you can't live on the $$$ you are making you then have to raise your prices a lot, you may then lose clients, and in business your best plan is to keep clients long term, not try to win them back later or find new ones when you lose them. It is much much easier just to keep the ones you have.

Anyway, lots of luck with the name, and the business, personally I like luscious (or lush) lawns, but I like anything with lush or luscious in it!
