Steel Match Aiming strategy

Question

I've been getting into shooting in a friendly steel match. Basically, there are four stages and each shooter gets three runs on each stage. What is the best method to acquire different targets:

1. keep focus on the front sight and move gun from one target to the next

OR

2. Shift focus on next target and then acquire the front sight on target.

Spot the target then bring the sights to bear. Try to be smooth, smooth is fast. Trying to be fast is jerky and it actually slows you down. Check if targets must be dropped in any particular order. Most right handers find shooting left to right is more natural motion than R-L.

During the string: spot-sight-shoot then spot the next and keep going. An entry level common error is to watch the plate fall through the sights. Once the sights are on target shoot and know it's a hit before the bullet gets there and move on. Don't sit there watching it.
