Question:

Steel or graphite irons?

by  |  earlier

I have seen a set of clubs that have graphite woods and steel irons and the same set with graphite woods AND graphite irons for £15 more

Do you think it is worth paying the extra for graphite?

Thanks

  1. id get graphite thts wat ive gt

  2. I am in the same position as you... there is a set with only graphite woods and then an all graphite set. I believe I'm going for the $100 more to get my clubs all in graphite. They are so much easier on my joints and let me concentrate more on golfing. I say it's worth it, but ultimately it depends on what you're more comfortable with.

    Hope this helps! :o)

  3. depends how good your game is.

If you are just starting off then I would go for the steel irons.

  4. To be honest, I found as I got older (I'm 60) graphite irons where a lot easier to swing.  The added weight of steel shafts is really quite a bit.  My only steel shaft clubs now are my 56 degree wedge and my putter.

  5. Get light steel.

  6. this depends on your swing speed graphite irons are mainly for slower swing speeds,ie senior players and ladies

  7. generally old guys and women play the graphites.

if you're anywhere younger than 60, i'd think you should be playing steel.  if you get good, you can play rifle steel shafts which i think feel smoother.

  8. If you are starting out go for some graphite shafts, much more forgiving than steel, It does depend on your swing speed, nothing to do with your age as in some of the posts, some of the Pros use graphite.

If your have a quick swing use steel if you have a slower swing use graphite, but best thing to do is try and have a go with both sets and see which you prefer

  9. if you are any good, get the steel shafts

  10. steel shafts would probably be the best bet. That way if you improve your game then you wont have to buy new irons. if you are not a very good golfer then steele shafts will still work for you but if you improve your game and have grafite shafts then you are in trouble.
