These 9 runners will take on the 5 furlong track, the surface of which has been labelled standard and they will compete for a purse of £2,264.
Steelcut, trained by David Evans for owner, Shropshire Wolves 3, is currently on a hat-trick as he already tucked two victories safely under his belt.
The son of Iron Mask, out of mare, Apple Sauce, triumphed in the Williamhill.com Classified Claiming Stakes on 10th March, 2012 at Wolverhampton. Ridden by jockey, Martin Lane, he raced as a favourite with odds of 15 to 8, and
defeated, Captain s****., by 2 ¼ lengths.
The eight-year-old gelding’s victory continued into the 32RedBingo.com Classified Claiming Stakes at Kempton on 29th March, 2012. This time he was the mount for Matthew Cosham and defeated, Unlimited, by 2 ¼ lengths.
Racing at Kempton again may give him a considerable advantage, as he is familiar with the track and may be able to complete his hat-trick today.
Howyadoingnotsobad, son of Kodiac, out of mare Beau Petite, scored a victory in his first start of the season, and he may be able to perform an encore of that race.
He raced as a joint favourite with Invigilator, with odds of 4 to 1. Mounted by Raul Da Silva. He succeeded over, Wreningham, by 1 ½ lengths in the Win Big With Betdaq Multiples Handicap at Kempton on 28th March, 2012.
His victory at Kempton is also attracting some attention from the market because the familiarity with the track will definitely benefit him.
Trained by Karen George, for owner, Ten Four Fun, he will enter the race from post 1, under jockey, Raul Da Silva again.
Vhujon, son of Mujadil, out of Livius Lady, finished as a runner-up in the Bhest Racing To School Handicap at Kempton on 19th March, 2012, under rider, RobbieFitzpatrick.
The Peter Grayson trained seven-year-old gelding missed the victory by a marginal difference of ½ a length to, Black Baccara.
Today, he will be the mount for the same jockey, hoping that he will make up for the narrow margin and bag the victory in today’s race.
This will be a close race between Steelcut and Howyadoingnotsobad. Both of them have scored at this venue and will aim to add another victory to their records.
Steelcut’s connections are hoping that he will take the race and complete his hat-trick, but it given that Howyadoingnotsobad will not easily admit defeat. The contender for a finish in third place is Vhujon.
