Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger plays down early-season criticism – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has played down the early season criticism against the team.
The current season of the National Football League (NFL), the premier American football league, is half way through of the current regular season with certain clarity of team positions at the points table.
Steelers are currently leading the American Football Conference (AFC) north division 7-3. However, they are being chased closely by the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals 6-3.
Both teams, Ravens and Bengals, are facing each other in one of their crucial ties of the AFC north this Sunday, into the week 11 of the current NFL season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers however are having their bye week this week.
Contrary to the performance shown by the Steelers so far, and the current lead in the AFC north, many game punters in their early season commentaries had discarded them too slow to be contenders for the this year’s Super Bowl (2011)
competition, or at least they did not predicted them for such a performance as to lead their division.
However, the Steelers performance so far has proved all those commentators wrong. The Steelers Ben Roethlisberger has refuted all those criticism in his 'NFL Total Access' address. He said that he was not worried about for such
‘hater bandwagon’.
"People make a big deal after Week 1," said Roethlisberger, currently nursing a broken thumb on his throwing hand. "You lose a game and everyone wants to jump on the hater bandwagon of the Steelers even more than they already are.
We just kind of laughed it off and said, 'You know what, we'll just do what we do' and I think we've done that."
Irrespective Ben’s comments many observers still believed that the Pittsburgh Steelers were still exposed many weaknesses. They said that the Pittsburgh was lucky to have march this far in the current seasons, and they should have
all the benefit of doubt.
According to the Steelers were looking for some motivation to push them forward in the rest of the season and maintain their lead. Either of the Bengals or Ravens will catch up to them this week, as they lag behind with a 6-3 mark.
