Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffers high-ankle sprains – NFL News
MRI scans results confirmed on Friday that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has sustained a high-ankle sprain.
The player was injured in Steelers game against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. He however despite being in pain played and helped his side to stage their much-needed win over the Browns.
The team earlier did not expect Ben's injury to be as serious. The latest reports confirmed the high-ankle injury. The player is in now in protective boot nursing his injury.
He however might be lucky in a sense that the Steelers have more than a week time to play their next game and it is being hoped that he might recover in time to join them next week.
"I wanted to be there for the guys," Roethlisberger said Thursday night following the game. "I wanted to let them know that I'm going to be there and I'm going to fight no matter what."
On his return despite being injured and in pain Roethlisberger threw to for 280 yards pass and two scores. He was celebrated as a hero by his teammates.
"You can't say enough about our quarterback," Brown said. "It's amazing to play with a guy like that who exemplifies that type of toughness."
Ben came out on the sideline after inflicting the injury. However X-rays tests showed that his injury was not a break of any bone and he was allowed to be back on the field.
With the 14-3 victory the Steelers have consolidated their lead to 10-3 in the American Football Conference (AFC) north division, just a point ahead of their archrivals Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens with one more game to go to
match 12 games the Steelers have played are 9-3 in the division.
In case of Ravens win on Sunday both teams will be tied atop the north division with three games before closing of current regular season of National Football League (NFL).
The Steelers owe it to Roethlisberger’s return inspite of his injury on Thursday night that they were able to consolidate their lead and increase their chances of winning the AFC north division title.
