Steelers thrash Browns to lead AFC north division on points table – NFL Recap
Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger returned from a leg injury halfway through their game against the Cleveland Browns to pass for 280 yards and two scores to help his side stage a comprehensive win over the
visiting Browns at Heinz Field stadium on Thursday night.
Roethlisberger's left leg caught underneath the Browns' Scott Paxson in middle of the second quarter. The pain made the player laid on the field unmoved raising fears that he was definitely out for rest of the game. The Pittsburgh
Steelers were left stunned by the injury and without an apparent answer to it.
However lucky for the Steelers and Big Ben that the X-ray on his leg cleared all for him to return to the game. It was the Steelers show from then onwards.
Despite being seen in pain Ben Roethlisberger on his return passed for 280 yards including two scores. This included 79 yards throw to Antonio Brown with 2:52 minutes before end of the game. It helped the Steelers to 14-3 victory
over the Browns, which was very much in line with pre-match projections and analysis.
"You can't say enough about our quarterback," Brown said. "It's amazing to play with a guy like that who exemplifies that type of toughness."
Big Ben said it was very tough for him to carrying on after his return. The whole experience was very painful, he said.
"It was one of the most painful things I ever felt," Roethlisberger said. "It felt like the middle of my leg was just, cracked ... it felt like my foot was outside of my leg."
The Browns lost all their chances and hopes for a win at Heinz Field stadium, on their road to Pittsburgh. This was their 15th loss in 16 games they played against the Steelers in the franchise history.
Meanwhile the win has put the Steelers on top of the points table in American Football Conference (AFC) north division. They are 10-3 leading the division, while their archrivals Baltimore Raves trailed them behind at 9-3.
The Steelers have one more game to play against the Browns by end of this season. They have to two more games to play this season before their closing game against the Browns.
