Steelers uncertain about quarterback Big Ben’s return for next game – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers said on Tuesday that they were uncertain about the return of their quarterback Ben Roethlisberger commonly known as Big Ben for their next game on Monday night.
The Steelers are playing the San Francisco 49ers into week 15 of National Football League, the American professional football premier league.
The tie is crucial for them to take lead over their American Football Conference (AFC) north division archrivals the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams are tied 10-3 atop the division with three more games for each of them to play to
close this NFL season.
The uncertainty about Big Ben’s chances to play comes as a bad news for them. Their coach Mike Tomlin said that despite that Roethlisberger was working very hard to recover well before their next game he was ‘day-to-day’ in his
progress on recovery leaving him probably to a game-time decision.
The player was injured in second quarter of Steelers game against the Cleveland Browns on past Thursday night.
Tests reports later confirmed his injury to be a high ankle sprain, which normally takes a couple of weeks to recover. He is still in recovery phase leaving the team without a decision on him.
Roethlisberger has not practiced since his last game. Lucky for him that he had more than a week time to nurse his injury and might be able to comeback to join them for the next game.
The coach added that Big Ben might be available for practice later this week and it would be decided then whether he would play on Monday night, but also underlined the need for some extra rest for the player.
The development comes as another bad news for the Steelers who had earlier been informed of the NFL decision of imposing one game ban on their linebacker James Harrison.
Harrison will be out of their Monday night game as a result of his suspension over his involvement in a helmet-to-helmet on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy.
Harrison was handed down the suspension without a pay on Tuesday despite that he had come to his defence of committing nothing wrong.
McCoy had suffered a concussion as a result of the hit.
