Steelhead fishing in Michigan?

I'm looking to do some fishing for steelies tomarrow....actually im looking to arrive at St. Joseph michigan around 5am or 530am. I checked the weather and the sky is gonna be clear and around 80 degrees.... i know it's a little warm. but i wanna know what are my chances of catching ne steelies??? and ne tips will be great. I am a novice and have seen w/ my own eyes that they are a lot of fun to catch..... for bait I'm using herring (cut bait) shrimp and spoons (orange). ne way thanks i appreciate it.

  1. Errol,

    It may be too early in the year for Steelhead but something will be biting.  i suggest checking the State of Michigan DNR weekly fishing report to see what's biting and usually some bait choices. Updated every Thursday
