Steely tipped to win Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap
Steely is favourite to win the Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap at Brighton in England on Friday, June 1, 2012. A cash prize of £1,617 has been set for the winner of the class-6 event.
The going will be good to firm in the 1 mile, 3 furlong and 196 yard race, which is scheduled to start at 16:15 GMT. A total of six runners will be seen in action and their names are as follows: Steely, Kucharova, Nicky Nutjob, Pahente, Barbirolli and Littlemissperfect.
Although the competition is expected to be a tough one, the best chances of victory are with Steely, as he is carrying a very good momentum at the moment. He will have to fight hard though, as there are some very experienced runners up against him.
The four-year-old gelding does not have a lot of experience, as he has just entered eight races until now. His performances in them have been average, as he has managed to win just one of them whereas finished third on the same number of times.
Importantly, the Gary Moore’s trainee is carrying a very good momentum at the moment, as he secured his maiden victory in his most recent race. This would have given him a lot of confidence, thus the punters are expected to risk a lot of money in his favour.
Despite not being rated as the favourite to win his last race, Steely did not allow anyone else to come closer, winning by almost four lengths. He showed extremely good stamina and a similar run would ensure him another run to the top.
The favourite runner will be ridden by seasoned jockey, George Baker, who has won numerous races at this level and has got a decent strike rate. He will be looking forward to another dominant show at Brighton.
However, the experience of Barbirolli suggests that he cannot be ruled out of contention for victory. He has entered 107 events and has been in pressure situations before as well. His strike rate is on the lower side, as he has managed to win just six times.
The 10-year-old gelding is not carrying a good momentum at the moment, thus he might find it hard to challenge Steely in the race.
