Question:

Steering wheel Shakes??

I have a 99 honda accord. Its in really good condition and all especially for the mileage i have on it. However, I noticed that when I am driving on the parkway/highway (usually over 55 or 60 mph) the steering wheel shakes almost like it is vibrating. Is this a serious problem?? and if so then what could be wrong??

  1. One of your rear wheels need to be balanced, and while you are at it, get both rear wheels balanced. At 55-60 mph, vibrations are caused by the rear tyres being out of balance.

Also, check if any of the wheel rims is bent.

  2. I will go out on a lim here and say your tires need to be balanced, should cost all of 40 dollars.

  3. Your wheel balancing is out, just take it to a place that fits tyres and they will balance them for you.

All car tyres need to be balanced, doesn't cost a lot either and it will not take long to do.

Your local mechanic could do it for you to.

No it's not a serious problem, it will however reduce the life of your tyres with abnormal tyre wear. plus as you found out, very annoying.
