Stef Clement and Marianne Vos wins time trial of 2011 Netherlands National Road Championship
Rabobank Pro Team’s Stef Clement won the time trial of 2011 Netherland national Road Championships on Wednesday, June 22.
The 28-year-old Dutch professional road bicycle racer took a total of 56 minutes and 56 seconds to cover the distance of 23.2 kilometres.
Jens Mouris of Vacansoleil – DCM was the runner-up with 31 seconds behind Stef. Martijn Keizer of Vacansoleil-DCM was in the third spot with a difference of 34 seconds.
After finishing the stage, Stef told the media, "That the Dutch championship for me a turning point in my career would be, I was already working from the moment my body nine months ago for the first time allowed to load completely.”
Previously, Stef took the eighth stage of Criterium du Dauphine Libere and National time trial championship in 2009. He grabbed first place in Chrono des Nations in 2008.
A group of five riders, which included Stef Clement (Rabobank), Joost Posthuma (Leopard Trek), three riders from Vacansoleil - DCM Jens Mouris, Martijn Keizer and Lieuwe Westra built an advantage of few seconds over the peloton.
All of them worked together, but with the help of Rabobank Stef maintained his pace and crossed the finish-line ahead of other cyclists. Joost Posthuma tried his best to take lead, but he grabbed the fifth spot with 36 seconds behind Clement.  
Clement further added, "The recovery proceeded steadily but slowly. I was lucky that I could ride the Tour of Italy after two teammates had to let go default. I had a great round just need to get back the contents. This victory makes me again rider feel
really full.”
In the women category, Marianne Vos of Nederland Bloeit won the Netherlands National Road Championship in Venndam. The 24-year-old Dutch cyclo-cross racer took a total of 30 minutes and 39 seconds to cover the distance.
Recently, Marianne took the UCI-Cyclo-cross World Championships and grabbed first place in Ronde Van Drenthe. He also took first spot in La Fleche Wallonne Feminine.
Ellen Van Dijk of HTC-Highroad Women team was the runner-up with a difference of 6 seconds. His team-mate, Loes Gunnewijk, finished third with a difference of 1 minute and 4 seconds.
Iris Slappendel (Team Garmin - Cervélo), Kirsten Wild (AA Drink - Leontien.nl) and Vera Koedooder (Specialized - DPD Pakketservice Women) were in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.
After two days of rest the next U23 Elite Women road race and Elite Men road race will start from Ootmarsum.
