Stefan Bradl prepares for upcoming American Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Stefan Bradl completed 50 practice laps on Monday at the Mugello circuit in Italy prior to the upcoming American Grand Prix at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit.
With improving performances, during practices, he registered the 7th fastest lap of the day. Bradl has improved his lap times using used tyres during the session.
Bradl is trying to further improve his performance in the upcoming US Grand Prix, as the Italian Grand Prix results were encouraging since he was only 0.2 seconds behind the top runners in Mugello.
To get further improved results, Bradl along with his team, LCR Honda tried new front forks, rear suspension, brake pads and master cylinder. This modification would help in achieving better control and comfortable corner exits and will help improve his
performance significantly.
“Basically we worked to improve our weak point of the last races in the acceleration area. Adjusting the suspensions and the geometry settings I could feel the bike was more stable. In the past races the bike was bumping too much and sometimes it was too
nervous but now I feel more comfortable especially in the corner exit. We also improved lap times easily on used tyres and front-end feeling is getting better. I suffered a small crash but I am okay and already looking forward to the American race,” Bradl
said.
With adjusted geometry settings, the bike is expected to have better balancing, braking, acceleration and suspension which will add to the confidence of Bradl.
Stefan Bradl, son of former racer Helmut Bradl started participating in MotoGP this year. Previously, in 2011 he stood as champion in Moto2. In the ongoing season, he has participated in 9 races and holds 7th position in the championship.
The US Grand Prix is scheduled to be held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit on July 27, 2012 which is 2.238 miles in length and contains eleven turns including the famous “Corkscrew” at turns 8 and 8A.
The circuit is a mixture of both straights and a mixture of slow speed and high speed corners. Historically speaking, some turns are challenging, and require better control over the bike. During some turns the racers are unable to have a clear view of the
circuit which makes it much more difficult to race at Laguna Seca circuit.
Let’s see how Stefan Bradl fares at the upcoming race.
