Stefan Effenberg backs Roberto Mancini on his decision to leave out Carlos Tevez – UCL News
Former Bayern Munich midfielder Stefan Effenberg believes that the Reds were ominous against the Citizens on Tuesday night. He also showed support to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez from his squad for the future games.
Tevez refused to come on as a substitute in the second half, increasing problems for his manager Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323. The Citizens were already 2-0 down at that time and Mancini had to make a forced replacement due to Tevez’s denial.
Effenberg stated that the Argentinean should have shown respect to his manager’s decision. Further voicing his opinion on Tevez’s behaviour, the former midfielder added that every player should first think for the team and a senior player like Tevez should
have been aware of this universal fact.
The 43-year-old also claimed that it would now be very hard for the striker to be employed at any club after such ridiculous behaviour. He also reserved praise for City manager on taking immediate action over the Argentinean’s behaviour, urging him not to
include the 27-year-old for the future games.
While addressing the local press after Tuesday’s game, Effenberg further enthused, "That player would never play in the same club as me again - that goes without saying. There is a clear order from the coach and he disregards it. That is poor behaviour and
the club has got to come down hard on it.”
He also mentioned, "Other clubs are going to have to consider whether they want to sign a player with such a character. I hope that they actually go through with what Mancini says and that he never plays for the club again."
Tevez joined the free spending club in 2009 and has 43 league goals under his belt so far from 65 appearances. The player has only made two league appearances this season for the Citizens but hasn’t opened his goal-account.
Stefan also congratulated Bayern on achieving their second consecutive win in the group stage.
