The young Romanian was promised to Ajaccio in the summer transfer window but after being unable to sign a contract with the Corsicans, is training with the Marseille reserves
In the summer transfer window, Ligue 1 outfit, AC Ajaccio got some air time after being able to secure the services of Romanian star Adrian Mutu. The former Juventus and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 striker joined the club as a free agent and is slowly adapting to his new surroundings
far away from the constant media scrutiny he received in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
However, along with Mutu, came another Romanian in a discreet manner from Cesena on the advice of his agent Ludovico Fattizzo. The youngster was promised to a move to Ajaccio but unfortunately, the youngster was unable to secure a professional contract as
the club does not have an approved training centre.
Instead, a gentleman’s agreement was reached with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 who agreed to keep the 19-year-old at the club’s training centre where he is getting along just fine with the reserves. With some promising showing in CFA 2 for Marseille B, Les Phoceens
might consider offering Popescu a professional contract.
And, a relative of the player’s agent says that chances are that OM might be able to give the player a pro contract and Ajaccio will need money which they don’t have at the moment.
In any case, the gifted left-back is enjoying his humble beginnings at the ‘Commanderie’. The player says that it feels great to be training with pros and he aims to play for a big European club. Keen to follow the example of his idol http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adrian-Mutu-c3742, Popescu
says that he does not mind where he ends up at.
“Training with OM pros at 19, it’s great! My goal? To become a professional player in a big European championship. Adrian Mutu is my big brother, my best friend and an example. I fell under the spell of Ajaccio, the ACA, the fervour of supporters. Everything
is good for me. Whether it’s Ajaccio or Marseille, it is 50/50.  But that’s not my problem. It’s up to the leaders to discuss,” says the talented defender.
