The sweeper stated that his side was expecting some attacking display from the visitors and it turned to be nothing different. He opined that his side combined well to deny Barca an early goal before letting one slip through, right
at the stroke of half-time. Reinartz stated that Werkself were forced to defend during the most part of the first 45 minutes, which allowed the Spaniards to take control of the game.
While talking during the post-match press conference, the 23-year-old defender further added:
“Unfortunately Barcelona gave us a bit of a runaround, but that was to be expected. We were limited mainly to defending in the first half but we didn't let much through until their opener. We weren't able to make much of an impact
going forward. After the break we tried to be a bit more offensive and pushed forward more.”
However, the German international is pleased with his team’s performance in the second-half. He applauded Kadlec’s effort to bring Werkself back into the game before Sanchez’s second strike, three minutes after the equaliser, silenced
the jam-packed BayArena.
