The Bayer Leverkusen defender admitted that the Catalan giants dominated the game and left his side no chance of coming back.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 proved extremely tough opponents for Bayer Leverkusen in their UEFA Champions League game and admitted that it would be next to impossible for Werkself to qualify for the next stage after
the loss.
The BayArena outfit hosted the Catalan giants for the first-leg of their Champions League knock-out stage clash on Tuesday, February 14, with the visitors emerging as comfortable 3-1 winners. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 contributed
to their team’s success. Michal Kadlec’s equalising goal in the 52nd minute later on proved to be a consolation for the home side.
The sweeper stated that his side was expecting some attacking display from the visitors and it turned to be nothing different. He opined that his side combined well to deny Barca an early goal before letting one slip through, right
at the stroke of half-time. Reinartz stated that Werkself were forced to defend during the most part of the first 45 minutes, which allowed the Spaniards to take control of the game.
While talking during the post-match press conference, the 23-year-old defender further added:
“Unfortunately Barcelona gave us a bit of a runaround, but that was to be expected. We were limited mainly to defending in the first half but we didn't let much through until their opener. We weren't able to make much of an impact
going forward. After the break we tried to be a bit more offensive and pushed forward more.”
However, the German international is pleased with his team’s performance in the second-half. He applauded Kadlec’s effort to bring Werkself back into the game before Sanchez’s second strike, three minutes after the equaliser, silenced
the jam-packed BayArena.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 man admitted of Barcelona’s quality during the last half an hour, which took the game away from the one-time European champions.
“It was good to see that we created some decent opportunities. We could easily have made it 2-2, but in the end Barcelona were just that bit better,” Reinartz concluded.
Both sides will meet again for the second-leg on Wednesday, March 07, at Camp Nou.
