Partizan Belgrade defender, Stefan Savic is reported to be edging closer to a move to Manchester City. In fact, according to some sources, the player is already in Manchester and in undergoing a medical at the club.
According to sources, the twenty year old Montenegrin defender arrived in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 earlier in the deal and is looking to ace his medical, in order to pen a contract with the club, before the end of the day. Should Savic join City, he would end up being the
teams second signing. Coincidently, the other player who City signed is Gael Clichy, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 full-back, who also plays in a defensive position.
At the moment, a fee worth around ten million pounds is being quoted as the price that City will have to pay to confirm the players capture and in all honesty, that price seems to be a bargain, considering the defender is still only twenty years old.
Savic has in the past gone on to have a trial at Arsenal. However, the defender didn’t seem to impress the Gunners management, which is why they let the player go.
Nonetheless, over the course of the last twelve months, the player has impressed everyone with his work at Partizan Belgrade. As a result, his market value has also soared quite high and gotten City interested in landing him.
On the other hand, Partizan seem to be more than just desperate to keep a hold of the player. However, they are also well aware of the fact that they are quite unlikely to be able to keep Savic around.
Aleksandar Stanojevic, when talking to the press is quoted to have said:  “I believe our president and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 director will do everything possible for Savic to play against Skendija”
“But nobody, especially Manchester [City], wants to take a risk which means in reality it is 99 per cent certain he will not play.”
If anything, those words just go on to confirm the imminent future. City are more than likely to land Savic within the week and should they do that, they would have a very competent defensive line up, capable of keeping hold of things for at least the next
4-5 seasons.
It is rather interesting to see the approach that City have taken in this transfer window. The team is actually looking to add quality to their team, instead of going all out and just signing a bunch of players, for ridiculous prices. It seems like the team
has finally matured and are now going to be one to watch out for, this coming season.
