Stefan Struve knocks out Dave Herman in second round of UFC of Fuel TV1 co-main event – UFC news
Stefan Struve, the tallest brawler in Ultimate Fighting Championship, knocked the senses out of his ‘UFC on Fuel TV1’ opponent Dave Herman in a non-title one-on-one thrilling bout.
Dave and Stefan constituted the heavyweight category brawl and rattled the Omaha Civic Auditorium situated in Nebraska by their impressive brawling. This was the first show that was televised by Fuel TV in collaboration with Fox network and UFC as a part
of the seven year agreement.
Stefan and Dave held up to the expectations of all and sundry and proved that both men can set up a co-main event of equivalent stature when compared to the headlining Jake Ellenberger-Diego Sanchez extravaganza. Stefan, infamous as the ‘Skyscraper’, won
the fight in an unusual way. Being considered as the best submission tactic implementer in the whole of UFC, a knock out win in an authoritative way is being denoted as a rare feat achieved by the young Dutch.
Stefan, 23, had been in a total 27 bouts before his encounter with Dave. He had won a whopping 12 of his total 22 wins by making the opponent submit. The Dutch proud collected just five of his wins by kayo which proves that the young lad loves to take down
his opponent and makes them submit by his vicious manoeuvres.
Dave, on the other hand, 27, had been in a total 23 bouts and won 15 of them by knocking out his opponent bluntly. Dave, well known as the Pee-wee, is infamous for his straight forward hitting and knocking-out style, the reason why he has collected just
five wins by submission.
Above stats clearly showed that the February 15, 2012 skirmish is a head on between the best submission specialist and the best knockout man in the whole of UFC. But interestingly Stefan came up as a victor by nailing Dave in 3 minutes and 52 seconds of
round two after throwing a series of powerful punches hence collecting a total knock out win (TKO).
The win is being considered as a classic one since Stefan just picked up an opening, a mere lack in Dave’s defence and went ahead full throttle pummelling Dave not only by his fists but also by a startling combination of knees, kicks, and uppercuts. After
picking up his career’s best win Stefan excitedly said, “I can still get like 10 times better. I'm 23. I turned 24 on Saturday.”
Stefan now has 23 wins in a total 28 encounters and Dave after collecting his third career loss stands at 21 wins and three losses in a total 24 brawls.
