Stefano Domenicali: Ferrari not looking at the points table and will go race by race – Formula 1
Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali has stated that despite managing their first win in the Silverstone Grand Prix of the 2011 Formula 1 season, they are not looking at the 2011 championship just yet.
Domenicali added that the Ferrari team will take the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season race by race. He further added that the Silverstone race was incredible in a sense that it was Ferrari’s first win of the 2011 season and the reminder of their first win
60 years ago which came from José Froilán González.
Domenicali stated, “We don't have to look at the classification, but instead make sure that our performance is always at the highest standard race by race. Then, we will see later on what will be the outcome of the championship. But at the moment we will
just fight race by race.”
He added that the first part of the 2011 season was below par for the Scarlet team as the progress was too slow and Red Bull got away easily. He also stated that the next part of the season was good where, despite one victory, Ferrari showed some pace.
“For the first three months of the season I would give a negative score to Ferrari for its performance. But I would say the last part of the first half of the year was better because, although we only took one win, we were competitive enough to have won
more,” added Domenicali.
Furthermore, Domenicali stated that a win was around the corner for the Ferrari team as the Scarlet car has always won at least one race per year for the last 18 years.
Although the Scarlet team is out of the constructors championship fight from Red Bull team, they will have a go in the drivers’ championship because Fernando Alonso is looking pretty strong and in rhythm to take on the challenge.
The 2011 season continues in Germany on July 24, 2011 and it will be interesting to see what happens to the points table after the race.
