Stefano Domenicali: Ferrari will pressurise Red Bull Racing team to induce errors – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team Principal Stefano Domenicali has said that Red Bull are running far ahead of the pack in the 2011 Formula 1 season and if they are pressurised, they will make mistakes.
Stefano added that Ferrari can play a part in applying the pressure on the 2010 world champions in order to hamper their errorless run in the season so far.
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso managed to apply some pressure on Red Bull’s duo of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber in the recently held Turkish Grand Prix.
Stefano thinks that the Red Bull team can lose some races if only they make mistakes because no other car on the grid is as fast as their RB7.
He said, “The pressure could also be on their side to keep up that level of performance. We will try to be one of the teams that will put the pressure on them – and if there's pressure, they can make mistakes.”
Stefano added that Red Bull have been consistent throughout the 2011 season so far, except for their Kinetic Energy Recovery System.
Talking about Alonso’s performance in the Turkish GP, Stefano said, “For sure, this is what I'm expecting from my people, my engineers. I think that what we have seen this weekend (in Turkey) is going in the right direction, and I'm expecting another step
in that direction.”
He further emphasised the fact that every other team will be doing some development work so the competition is going to get tougher.
For the first time in the 2011 season, Ferrari were able to land on the podium as Alonso finished third behind Vettel and Webber. Alonso started the race from the fifth place and had some good speed and skills to remain in the third place for most part of
the race.
The Turkish Grand Prix can be marked as the start of the Red Bull vs. Ferrari fight in the 2011 season, but still McLaren and Mercedes are not going to sit back and enjoy the show.
The next race will be contested on May 22, 2011 in Alonso’s home track in Spain.
