Stefano Domenicali: It was an incredible performance from Ferrari in Silverstone – Formula 1 news
Ferrari principal Stefano Domenicali has said that it was an incredible performance from the team driver Fernando Alonso in the 2011 Formula 1 British Grand Prix at the Silverstone racetrack.
Domenicali added that they were quite happy with Alonso’s win in Silverstone, as he lived up to his team’s expectations over there.
The Spaniard had a great time in the Silverstone race weekend on both the hard and soft tyres following his disappointing start to the 2011 Formula 1 season. He took a positive start in the British Grand Prix, as he fared well in the Friday Free Practice
sessions.
The team driver started his race from the third place on the starting grid and continued to challenge the two Red Bull Racing drivers ahead of him throughout the race. Alonso benefited from a slow second pit-stop from Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull and took
the lead in the race after which he never looked back and raced to the chequered flag convincingly.
The Ferrari principal talked to media and added that the new upgrades, which included a new diffuser system, brake ducts and a rear wing had been delivered to the 150° Italia car for the Silverstone race weekend, have brought a positive step forward in the
car’s pace at the British Grand Prix.
Domenicali discussed Ferrari’s performance in Silverstone and said, “We saw that the performance of our car during the weekend was always good in all conditions, wet, soft tyres, hard tyres, even on Saturday was not too bad, so I am pleased for that. But
as always we need to bring along race-by-race the results.”
He went on to mention, “I want my people to be focused on the development of the car and try to maximise the performance of the car. I said: 'don't follow the discussions, try to be focused on the job'.”
Domenicali also mentioned that the Maranello-based outfit is looking forward to win more races in the remainder of the 2011 season after winning the race in Silverstone recently.
He told the reporters that they will try to bring some more updates at the German Grand Prix for another successful race in the ongoing season.
