Stefano Domenicali expecting better results from Felipe Massa in last eight rounds of 2011 F1 season
Ferrari principal Stefano Domenicali has said that he is expecting better results from the team driver Felipe Massa in the final eight rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Domenicali added that it is confirmed Massa will stay with them for the 2012 F1 season, so he must improve for his team in the last races of the ongoing season.
The team principal also mentioned that he is confident the Brazilian will put a positive step forward towards his future in the sport by the end of the 2011 F1 season following his disappointing start.
Domenicali commented, “I see him working hard and I think his performances have grown in recent races. He has had some bad luck, like in Germany when he started well but got stuck between cars in the first few corners and ended up falling behind Nico Rosberg.”
He went on to say, “When Felipe has a good car he is very strong over one lap. He now needs to improve his consistency. He knows that he is part of the family and that there’s no threat. He has the perfect condition to maximise his performance.”
The Maranello-based outfit principal discussed Massa’s performance in the season so far and stated that he made a lot of struggle on the sets of hard tyres, but it did not suit his driving style during the races.
After completing 11 rounds of the 2011 F1 season, the 30-year-old driver is at the sixth position with 70 points in the championship battle. Domenicali stated that he is hopeful Massa will not again create a massive gap of points in 2012.
In the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix, Massa again failed to finish his race on the podium in the ongoing season. He had a fight with Red Bull’s Mark Webber and Force India’s Paul di Resta during the Grand Prix. After that, he finally ended his race at the sixth
place ahead of Resta with a gap of 83.1 seconds from McLaren’s Jenson Button, who was the eventual winner.
Let’s see how Massa performs in the final stages of the ongoing season.
