Stefano Domenicali insists Felipe Massa still has full Ferrari support – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has said that their driver, Felipe Massa has still got full support from them despite being unable to score even a single point in the 2013 German Grand Prix.
Massa secured 7th grid slot in the preceding race after delivering a convincing performance in the qualifying at Nurburgring. However, he failed to score any points on the race day because he spun on lap four after losing his rear under brake
at turn one.
After the race, the Brazilian driver admitted his mistake and called the spin driver’s error. Moreover, he stated that although he tried his best to overcome the problem, he could not make any advancement, so he finally decided to stop the engine to retire.
Nonetheless, Domenicali has said that he has a lot of confidence on Massa and they will support their struggling driver in every kind of circumstances.
“I've always said that I have a lot of confidence in him, but this is a very tough and very critical moment and for sure he is the first to be very disappointed with where we are,” Domenicali said.
In addition, he said that they are looking forward to provide everything to their belligerent driver which he may need to improve his performance in the season ahead. He also emphasised that they will provide him full support so that he may be able to score
competitive points in every race to make their position stronger in the championship fight.
“But the only thing is to stay behind him and work close with him because we need him to make sure we are fighting for the constructors'. The others are very close but he will feel the team is close to him 100%,” he added.
At present, he is standing at seventh position in the drivers’ championship with 57 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of Romain Grosjean of Lotus and behind his main rival, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes. He has performed quite well in the season until now as compared
to the first few races of 2012. It will be exciting to see how he performs in the upcoming race.
