Stefano Domenicali insists Ferrari must continue making essential progress – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has insisted that they must continue to make the essential progress so as to win the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship.
The Scarlet team is presently standing at second position in the constructors’ championship with 177 points. Additionally, they are ahead of McLaren and are behind the defending champions, Red Bull Racing who are leading the constructors’ rankings with 230
points.
Meanwhile, their driver, Fernando Alonso is leading the drivers’ championship with 154 points ahead of Red Bull’s drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel. Furthermore, he has effectively limited the damage for his team which projected to suffer during
the first few races of the current season after a struggling pre-season testing programme.
Moreover, Domenicali praised the performance of the Spaniard in the season so far and expressed gratitude towards him for his faith in the team.
However, he believes that the competition is very tight in this season as all the contenders have been making some credible improvements and significant developments to fight for the championship title.
Therefore, he also said that they need to make the essential preparations to come up stronger in every kind of circumstances as the season until now has been quite unpredictable and it is very difficult to project about the conditions in the races ahead.
“I believe that we do still not have the fastest car because if we had the fastest car maybe it would be easier to win and we need to improve the car. We need to make sure that our car is good in all the different conditions and on all the tyres. It's such
a tight championship and you need to make sure you develop the car race by race, otherwise you will lose points because the competition is so strong. If you think today that the first three cars were split by two or three seconds - it's nothing,” he said.
The Italian team has emerged as one of the strongest contenders after the first half of the season and it will be extremely thrilling to see how they progress in the approaching races.
