Stefano Domenicali says Felipe Massa performed really well in 2012 Monaco GP – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has said that Felipe Massa who has been seen struggling in the season so far has performed really well in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco on May 27.
Massa started the race from 7th place in the grid and secured 6th place finish which is his best performance in the season until now. Moreover, he showed an impressive performance in the qualifying of the Monaco GP as he made his way into Q3 for the first
time in this season.
Domenicali said that the Brazilian driver has delivered an incredible performance in the last race after facing difficulties with finding the pace in the first five races.
“I think that he did a great weekend and had the weekend that he deserved after a lot of big pressures,” Domenicali said. “He did a great qualifying, you can always say he could have been a bit better in Q3, but we need to look at a wider picture and from
other angles.”
He added, “He did a great race today. He was a little bit unlucky because he could have come out in front of Lewis but for a fraction, but he was there in the first six cars and very close.”
On the other hand, Massa’s teammate, Fernando Alonso is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 76 points and he is 3 points ahead of Red Bull Racing’s pair of drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.
Nevertheless, Domenicali said that Massa is feeling confident after the race in Monte Carlo while he said that he is looking forward to improve his pace in the forthcoming season.
In addition, he said that it is very important that both the drivers do well in the approaching races so they may be able to make their position stronger in the constructors’ championship.
Over and above, the Scarlet team, which is presently at 3rd place in the constructors’ rankings, is trying to bring out the best to make the substantial developments and the essential preparations in order to improve the pace of F2012 for the season ahead.
