Stefano Domenicali says Felipe Massa will repay the renewed trust – Formula 1 news
The team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali, believes that Felipe Massa will repay trust of the team by showing impressive performances over the circuit.
He believes that the driver in red overall has proved his strength in the latter half of the current 2012 season.
Ferrari signed a new deal with Massa for the next 2013 season on Tuesday. The principal of the team has expressed his pleasure over the new deal and told that it has been a great time with the Brazilian driver.
Massa was unable to show impressive performance in the first half of season and could only attain 25 points until the Hungarian Grand Prix. His performance was criticized by the team and it was also stated earlier that Ferrari needs a competitive driver
to drive along with Fernando Alonso however the issue was also answered by Domenicali as he believes that Massa has proven his strength in the latter half of the season. He has been able to extend his championship points to 81 until the Korean Grand Prix.
Domenicali said, “We are pleased to have extended our relationship with Felipe for another year. He has been part of our family for over a decade and has shown, especially in the latter part of the season, to be competitive at the highest levels, as we expect
every driver to be behind the wheel of a Ferrari.”
The team principal added that they have always supported their driver and they believe that he will be able to perform in the next season. Ferrari has been able to move to the second position in the Constructors’ Championship however until the mid-break
Ferrari was not in the top three teams.
“We have always supported Felipe, even in the most difficult moments of his career, and we are confident in his value, and that he will repay the trust that has been renewed,” he added.
The next 2013 season will be the 8th consecutive season for Massa with Ferrari. There was a time, before the break in the month of August, when it did not seem possible for Ferrari to fight for the Constructors’ Championship although Alonso was the championship
leader at that time. The deal with Massa proves that Ferrari trusts him a lot. Let’s see how he performs in the next 2013 season.
