Stefano Domenicali says Ferrari did a fantastic job in 2011 Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari principal Stefano Domenicali has said that his team’s performance in the recently held Japanese Grand Prix was very good.
Domenicali added that the team driver Fernando Alonso’s second finish in Japan has proved that they were really competitive during the race and that they still want their best possible outcomes at the end of the 2011 championship battle.
He also mentioned that the Suzuka race was an aggressive approach from the team, so they must maintain it until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Domenicali commented, “We fought well and this second place showed we were really competitive. This aggressive approach is the right one and we need to maintain it, not just for Korea, but for all the remaining rounds of the championship.”
He added, “Our objectives remain the same: to maximise our points score, to focus on bringing home another win where possible and to fight to get Fernando into second place in the Drivers’ Championship, because it is important in terms of it being a motivational
goal, not just for the drivers, but also for the entire team.”
The Maranello-based outfit driver Alonso impressed the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix by taking second position after battling it out with his close rivals, including Red Bull Racing and McLaren.
The Spaniard took a positive start to the Suzuka race weekend recently, as he finished all three Practice sessions in a very decent manner at the Japanese racetrack. After that, he managed to secure a fifth position in the qualifying round 3 for Sunday’s
race.
After starting the race from the fifth position at the Suzuka circuit, the two-time world champion finished his race on the podium ahead of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel, who ended up on the last stair of the podium.
The 30-year-old driver is placed at the third position with 202 points in the title fight following his second position in the Japanese race weekend.
Alonso is aiming to keep his momentum in the next rounds of the ongoing season.
Let’s see whether he puts on a strong performance at the Korea International Circuit on Sunday, October 16, 2011.
