Stefano Domenicali says Ferrari not happy with Belgium Grand Prix results – Formula 1 news
Ferrari principal Stefano Domenicali has said that they are not happy with the team’s results of the Belgium Grand Prix held on August 28, 2011 at Spa-Francorchamps.
Domenicali also mentioned that the team must focus on the compatibility of the hard tyres by Pirelli for the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The team has made a lot of struggle on the hard compounds in the season’s races so far. Both of the drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa hugely struggled with these tyres in the 2011 Spanish Grand Prix.
The Ferrari principal talked to the media and added that the team driver Alonso was again in a competitive form in the Belgium Grand Prix, but the hard tyres did not support him during the race. In addition, he stated that both the drivers could not match
their pace at Spa circuit on Sunday, because the tyres did not work properly for them.
Domenicali commented, “Honestly I don't know. For sure we came here with a clear idea that there was not really a problem. I cannot say if that was the problem, because the real problem is that when we have tyres working outside the working range of conditions,
then we are suffering. This is the problem.”
He went on to mention, “It is not only related to that. It is related to a lot of factors, and it would be great to have a clear vision of all of that because it would mean we have solved that issue. That is something we need to work on flat out, to be honest.”
The Spaniard was 13.0 seconds off the pace of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel in the final race classifications of the Belgium Grand Prix. After putting all of his efforts during the race, Alonso finished his race at the fourth place ahead of Mercedes GP’s Michael
Schumacher, who was at the fifth position.
The teammate Massa also tried to make a lot of struggle on hard tyres in Belgium and finally finished his race in the eighth place.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage their race in the next grands prix of the ongoing season following their 2011 Belgium race weekend’s results.
