Stefano Domenicali says Ferrari’s main concern is to resolve reliability issues – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has said that their main concern is to resolve the ongoing reliability issues so as to come up stronger in the remaining grands prix of 2012 Formula 1 season.
The Scarlet team faced immense difficulties throughout the pre-season testing programme this year and failed to get a sound understanding about the setup of their car F2012 before the season opener.
Although, they expected to struggle in the opening few races and their technical director, Pat Fry ruled out the probability of a podium finish in the first race. Nevertheless, their driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari has performed inspiringly well even
with the uncompetitive car and is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 194 points.
Domenicali has expressed that they are trying their best to find the necessary solutions for the problems which they are facing right now. Furthermore, he said that it is their first priority to make the car reliable so as to make their mark stronger in
this year’ championship fight. In addition, he said that if they will be successfully in solving the issues then they can really focus on making the essential improvements in the pace of the car.
“At the end of the day we know that the points are things that count and if you have reliability issue the consequences are very heavy,” he said. “So we have to make sure that first of all we are clear on that point because up to moment that you don't have
any issues on that you can concentrate on performance side.”
Besides, he said that the competition is going to be extremely tough in the upcoming races, therefore, they must make the significant preparations for the season ahead.
“Reliability for me is the fundamental aspect until the end of the season. We know that we have suffered problems on our side in Monza and we know that we could have suffered problems today,” he added.
Above and beyond, he said that they are confidently looking forward to come up stronger in the Japanese GP.
Let’s see how Alonso and his teammate, Felipe Massa show up in the forthcoming races.
