Stefano Domenicali says Mark Webber suffered with more technical issues in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has that Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing has struggled more because of the technical issues in his car in the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Webber performed convincingly well in this season and secured sixth place finish in the drivers’ championship. Moreover, he remained ahead of Felipe Massa of Ferrari and behind McLaren pair of drivers, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.
Besides, he stood amongst one of the most consistent point scorers in the field. Furthermore, it will be important to mention that he was deemed as one of the most competitive title contenders in this year’s championship, but he suffered with some technical
issues due to which he lost some crucial points and his hopes to win the title ended.
On the other hand, his teammate, Sebastian Vettel performed impressively well and successfully claimed his third consecutive world championship title by just three points from his major rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
It is to be noted that there have been a lot of speculations that Vettel has been provided with better parts in his car so as to win the championship title as compared to the Aussie.
The president of the Scarlet team has openly discussed their policy of hiring and has clearly stated that they will not take two world class drivers in their team at the same time.
“If the others don’t like it, we don’t care,” Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo is quoted by Marca sports newspaper. “Others are critical but do the same, although less transparently.”
Meanwhile, Domenicali has supported the statement of Montezemolo and said that the Australian driver struggled with his car because the best parts go to the better driver in his team.
“Why does Webber have so many failures on his car? Because the best parts go to the driver getting the better results,” he asserted.
“And this is normal, and it seems so logical that we never say anything. We don’t like to speak of the others, but the others like to talk about us,” he said.
“This year it took us between two and five laps to heat the tyres,” he added.
