Stefano Domenicali says a long season ahead to pull through – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali says to the team that there is a long season ahead in which they can pull-through from the deficiencies which have been faced in the performance during the pre-season tests.
Ferrari had been struggling with its new car F2012 during the pre-season test concerning the aerodynamics of the car. Moreover, the technical director of Ferrari, Pat Fry had said that the team were not prepared for the podium tussle in the first few races
of the forthcoming season, at the end of last test.
However, Fernando Alonso had spoken to support the team that they could surely improve before the first race at Melbourne, Australia.
Moreover, the Spaniard expressed his gratitude for his team and the staff back at the factory for their hard work regardless of the problems faced during the test. However, he admitted that the new car had been quite complex to understand and it would take
some time for them to reach where they had planned to be.
Moreover, after coming back to Maranello, Domenicali asserted that there was a lot of time for the team to improve after the discouraging pre-season testing.
“It's obvious that we can't be happy with how the test went considering our goals, but let's not forget that the Championship still has to start,” Domenicali said. “This is just the starting point and we have a very long season ahead of us. We know that
there are some areas where we have to work a lot, regarding reliability and performance, but I'm expecting some great responses from you all and the wish to show who we are.”
Furthermore, Alonso said that there had been an immense pressure on the team from the media after the lack of attention been given to the problems faced by the front-runner, Red Bull during the last day of the final test.
Moreover, Alonso said that the performances of the tests could not be taken as facts after he gave an example of the pre-season test two years ago in which they were on fifth position but just two weeks later they achieved one-two win at the Bahrain Grand
Prix.
