Stefano Domenicali thanks Fernando Alonso for having faith in Ferrari – Formula 1 news
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali has expressed gratitude towards their driver Fernando Alonso for having faith in his team in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far.
Alonso has performed outstandingly well in the season until now and has effectively restricted the damage for his team which expected to face issues during the first few grands prix as they had a struggling pre-season this year.
Moreover, the Spaniard is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 154 points and became the first driver who has scored three race wins after claiming victory in the German GP. Additionally, he is ahead of Red Bull Racing pair of drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel in the drivers’ standings.
Domenicali praised the performance of the two-time world champion and said that they are immensely grateful to him for all his efforts, trust and motivation which have played a crucial role in their turnaround.
“This year it was important from his side not to lose faith in the team and not to lose the will to believe in what he is doing when we had difficult days at the beginning of the season with a car that was not a car,” Domenicali said. “You know that you have to do a big job to improve the car but if you see that a world champion is pushing in the right way for the team to work, I think that is something fundamental. For that we need to thank him a lot.”
Furthermore, he said that they need to continue making the essential preparations and the considerable developments so as to improve the pace of F2012 in order to fight for this season’s championship title.
At present, the Italian team is at second place in the constructors’ championship with 177 points. In addition, they are ahead of McLaren who are struggling with the lack of race pace and are behind the defending champions, Red Bull who are leading the constructors’ rankings with 230 points.
The current season has been full of surprises and it will be very exciting to see how all the contenders come up in the Hungarian GP.
