Stefano Domenicali wants Ferrari to be consistent – Formula 1 News
Stefano Domenicali believes that Ferrari needs to be consistent in order to win the 2013 Formula 1 championship. He was disappointed after a lacklustre showing by the team in Monaco.
Looking at the current situation, the Ferrari team principal said, “I can confirm that we didn't get carried away when we won, nor did we beat ourselves up when things did not go as well as expected. But, from now on, it will be
important to establish a consistent level of performance.”
Prior to the Monaco GP, Ferrari were able to dominate the weekend in Spain. Both their drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, managed to fight at the front and finished on the podium comfortably.
The former of the two drivers was stronger in the race and finished on top of the podium. However, he went from hero to zero within a gap of one race, as he seemed to be all at sea in Monte Carlo.
However, the Spanish driver claimed that his car was simply not quick enough to challenge the front runners. Moreover, he lacked the traction in the corners, which allowed some of the other drivers to overtake him comfortably.
On this situation, Domenicali stated, “Obviously, we are [also] well aware that one less reliability problem can be very significant in terms of how the championship pans out. We have a lot of work to do in the coming days to be
as well prepared as possible for Montreal. We have all rolled our sleeves up and are focused on the tasks that lie ahead of us.”
Before the Monaco GP, things were very close in the championship. However, Red Bull have now managed to stretch their lead after the previous race, as their drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber finished second and third on
the podium respectively.
The former of the two drivers is leading the Drivers’ Championship whereas Alonso is 29 points behind. It will be interesting to see who is stronger in Canada, as the track characteristics are totally different there.
Last year, Lewis Hamilton managed to claim victory in the Canadian GP. However, he was with McLaren back then and will be looking to achieve a similar result with his new team Mercedes.
